From an idea to a working writing platform

I led product design and UX for Imaginie, connecting students who wanted to improve their writing with teachers who reviewed their essays. The team built and launched the product in three months. This case follows the student and teacher journeys, the original design evidence, and the early launch results.

  • PRODUCT IDEATION

  • PRODUCT IMPROVEMENT
  • UX Strategy

Two roles. One learning loop.

My scope covered product definition, research, interface design and choosing the product’s design system. We adopted an existing framework with very few custom components to launch quickly and keep the student and teacher experiences consistent and responsive across mobile and desktop devices.

STUDENT

Know what to improve next.

  1. 01Understand the writing topic
  2. 02Write and submit an essay
  3. 03Read the teacher’s correction

TEACHER

Give feedback students can use.

  1. 01Read the submitted essay
  2. 02Assess the writing criteria
  3. 03Explain what to improve

ONE CONNECTED EXPERIENCE

The student submits an essay. The teacher returns feedback to guide the next attempt.

From the handoff to a testable flow.

I connected the student and teacher journeys, then made the correction task tangible in low-fidelity prototypes before refining the interface.

01 / MAP

Map the handoff

Connect essay submission, teacher review and feedback returned to the student.

02 / SHAPE

Shape the workspace

Bring the essay, assessment criteria and comments into one correction view.

03 / TEST

Make it testable

Use low-fidelity prototypes to explore the interaction before visual refinement.

Launch was the start of the learning loop.

We launched the product in three months, then turned our attention to conversion and ongoing feedback from students and teachers.

NEXT FOCUS / CONVERSION & USER FEEDBACK

After launch, we began focusing on conversion: helping students move from account creation to their first essay. We kept a feedback loop with students and teachers to identify friction and guide usability improvements, with the goal of supporting product growth.

WHERE IMAGINIE IS TODAY

Imaginie now supports students and educators with essay correction, feedback and learning resources. Its reported reach extends well beyond the launch I worked on.

Connecting the experience was only the beginning.

01 / CONNECTION

Design the connection between people.

  • Students needed to express their ideas; teachers needed to assess them and explain how to improve.
  • The submission connected both roles. Useful feedback gave that connection its purpose.

02 / CONTINUOUS LEARNING

Treat launch as the start of learning.

  • Launching in three months put the essential journey into people’s hands. It was the beginning of learning how the product worked in everyday use.
  • If I were continuing the project today, I’d explore whether students understood the correction, used it in their next essay and returned to practice with less help.
